Catherine's Story
Not too sure where to start, but here goes. A few months after graduation from Finney, I went to work for Wm. C. Roney & Company - a stock brokerage in downtown Detroit working on class action suits. Also did work in the Proxy Department and Accounts Receiving in the Dividend Dept. Was told recently that the building in which the company existed (Buhl Building on Griswold St.) has been torn down - not sure if the company exists any longer. After working there for 2 1/2 years, I decided to join the U. S. Navy so I could go to school (hard to beat 75% tuition assistance!).
Got married the first year that I was in. What a mistake that was! I filed for divorce not long after. The only good things to come out of that ...Expand for more
marriage was my daughter and the knowledge of what I wouldn't put up with. (In school, I was much too shy and never dated anyone). Did the "single parent" thing for almost ten years!
Spent 20 years in the U. S. Navy and retired in 1999 -for the entire story on that, I would need a book! - maybe one day.
Remarried in 1991 and this marriage seems to work.
Went back to working for the U. S. Navy as a contractor and that's pretty cool. Get to watch the Blue Angels practice on almost a daily basis - until they go to their "winter home" in El Centro CA from January to March.
For the most part, we enjoy life here on the Gulf Coast - just avoid the hurricanes and stay in the air conditioning when it gets too blasted hot!
