Catherine's Story
Life
I'm married and live in Miami, Florida. I'm lucky to be retired.
Before moving to Florida, I worked in Manhattan for twelve years. I now go back as a tourist and love it.
I stay busy by building my dream home with hubby and traveling. I've been to most of the Caribbean islands and just came back from an Alaska. I travel at least two to three times a year.
My passion in traveling and making things grow. I have a one-acre garden and grow tropical plants and orchids.
School
I remember Ralph D'elia giving me my first box of chocolates for Valentine's Day. I think we broke up after I finished it.
The teacher who inspired me the most was Mr. Baldo (I was an art major) and Mr. Putney (English).
The funniest thing I remember was at Lindenhurst Sr. High when someone took all the formaldahyde frogs from...Expand for more
the biology lab and placed them throughout the school. They were on all the water fountains and there was a pile of them at the intersection where all the halls met.
The most poignant year was 1971 on the last day of school we all revolted and wore jeans to school, knowing that they couldn't do anything to us. Well in 1972 we were all allowed to wear jeans. We made our point and won!
Workplace
I am retired now, but previously when I worked in Manhattan I worked for Sports Illustrated Magazine for eight years in the business end.
When I moved to Florida I then went back to my first love of Art and became a graphic artist for a large insurance company.
I now spend my time gardening and building my dream house. I love interior design and making things pretty.
Love being retired and do not miss working at all.
