Hey Central Alums!
Like all of you, it's pretty hard to put 40 + years in a nutshell...but for anyone interested here's the short story. After Central, I went to MU and eventually received a BS in Education (surprise!) from SEMO. I taught one year, realized that I didn't like teaching 6th grade anymore than I had personally enjoyed 6th grade, and moved on to the field of advertising.
Through work, I ended up in NY....met my children's father....had 3 great kids...moved to Florida....moved to Springfield, MO....got divorced....and moved to St. Louis with my children.
In St. Louis I lived in Creve Couer, and I worked as a talent agent for graphic Artists and web designers. Not long after, I began dating a childhood friend from Cuba, MO. In 2001, the kids and I moved to Cuba and I took a job teaching 7t...Expand for more
h grade English. Do you recall how we were at Schultz? Well, things haven't changed much in the world of 7th grade maturity. Sure, they have cell phones, laptops, the web, and text messaging (and how much fun would we have had with that?), but basically they're the same creatures we were in 1968.
Update - so after teaching 7th grade for 7 years, I became a Catholic school principal. It really was great, but I missed teaching and in 2012 I returned full-time to a high school English classroom. It's my niche. I guess it takes some of us longer than others to realize what we want to do when we grow up!
My 3 kids are still great. Ande works in sales, Caroline got married in 2013, and both she and her husband are in the military. My son, Chris, lives and works in Chicago.
So, enough of me...how about you?
