Cathe's Story
Here I am in Santa Barbara ... not far in distance from where I started, but far from where I was or planned to be in life!
Some days I wish I could do it over. I would
... be less afraid to smile with my metal mouth
... take classes I was interested in and not what would be good for college
... stayed in touch with good friends I made on 81st Street and at all the places I worked during school
... defied my mom and gone out with those nice boys who asked me out!
... tried to overcome my shyness and take a few chances!
And, yet, here I am, married to a man I could never have met if I hadn't taken a chance. Life has been really great, especially since I left my fast paced tech career and started devoting my heart and soul to my family.

Thought I was headed to law school so studied Political Science and Law ... ended up taking a lot...Expand for more
of film studies and art classes, too and then stayed in Santa Barbara to work because of a man I met when I was a college junior. Fortunately for me he is THE ONE so passing on law school wasn't the worst mistake of my life. ;-)
Ended up working in administrative positions at UCSB from 1985-1997 and loved nearly every moment. It wasn't what I had planned but it worked out just fine. Made some really great lifelong friends!
Worked for a software start-up that got bought by AOL in 1996, telecommuted after that then quit when I wouldn't re-locate. Who would leave Santa Barbara willingly? Definitely poorer for the decision but my life is so much richer overall. Kids are almost done with high school and plan on attending college in town. Which means... the motorcycles will still be the center of the universe as I know it for the near future!
(now I know why teachers told me I was verbose)
