Cathy (Holcomb)'s Story

I am going to FVTC; my program is Medical Office Assistant. I have 3 children Vickie (Milwaukee), Tricia ( Florida), Ron (Milwaukee) and my granddaughter Ashley (Florida). I love spending time with my children and granddaughter whenever possible. I also do gardening, walking, going up to Crivitiz. I like to sit outside and just look at all the wonderful things that Our Heavenly Father gave us to enjoy. My favorite pass time is to sit by, and watch the water. I will soon be moving into apartment facing the river in Kuakuana. I always wanted to be a gym teacher when I grew up. I think only my mom knew As it turned out, she liked the idea--I had the same gym teacher in 7th grade that she had when she went to school---YEAH old teacher--YA THINK??. HOT HOT BATH!!! Go for a walk within the Lords creation. sit and watch the water; river, lake, stream whatever is close by. Wildest thing I did in school? can't think of anything--except for when a friends boyfriend picked us up at lunch time and we never made it back to afternoon school classes--I really liked school and I felt so bad about 'accidently' skipping class -- I went in the office the next day and confessed!!! If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have the Lords Word, the Lords Word, and some more of the Lords Word to be able to deal with the day-to-day. My hero is Jesus! He died on the cross to save me from my sins and give me eternal life. My inspiration comes from the Lords Word I was born and raised in Appleton, WI. Lived in Nichols, WI; Oconto Falls, WI; Appleton, WI, and soon moving to Kaukauna. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Paula Otte, because she was my best friend the last couple years of High School and we stayed friends for several years. She was my Maid Honor and I was her Matron of Honor--and quite pregnant with my daughter Vickie, who is now 39 years old.. No reality TV, Sports--if walking, biking is considered a sport. I love gardening but have no garden. I have had many obsessions throughout my life... My biggest surprise--was when my husband asked for a divorce--he got it--exactly 7 years to the day!! My next surprise was/is being unemployed, collecting unemployment, and going back to the food pantries so I can eat. TO BE PATIENT!! They learn more of what they see than what they are told. I have learned more about generosity, love, giving, and the wonderful things that children can give you. My fourth grade teacher, Mr. Trentlege ( spelling probably wrong-sorry)--I had a crush on him.. Our class...Expand for more
picked names that year for Christmas exchange gifts--he picked and gave me 'Wind Song' cologne. Be truly happy? In Heaven, praising the Lord, with everyone else up there. My current age is 59 1/2. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be gray/silver haired and chubby. I was so completely right about some of us!. LOL--my first crush I believe continued to teach. My best friend would tell you I'm fun to be with, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as crazy. 30 - 40 years ago Actually, yes! What was once called peddle pushers are now capris, Stretch pants are leggings. I share my home with Grace, which I find very comforting, peaceful and playful. ( Grace is my kitty cat). I the Lord would let me go back 37 years, I would become a Christian, my husband and children would also; and I would stay married. Not counting my sisters? I have had a everlasting friendship with Linda, we have had our ups and downs over the past 20 years. We met while working at the same Nursing Homes and when one of us moved on to another one the other usually followed. She had asked me to come there and I have asked to come work here. In fact, the last time I asked her was over 10 years ago AND SHE IS STILL THERE!! but I moved on. Our personalities clicked immediately, fun, loving, goofing off CNA's!! I never in my wildest dreams thought I would have an everlasting friend like Linda..who is so giving--even during the rough times. Love you Girlfriend!! And God Bless You. Wow!-- Good question~~~I am still somewhat quiet until I get know people better--but then; I am more outgoing than I used to be. I am a survivor of sexual, emotional and physical abuse. I am a recovering alcoholic, non-smoker and a born-again Christian. And I am who I am because of my past and because of the Lord. AMEN My first job was at Quaker Bakery outlet store on Madison Street, Appleton, where I got paid not much to not much more. What I remember most about it is the fresh baked bread, donuts and rolls. UMUMUMMM GOOD. Oh yeah!--the cute little pink hat and apron I had to wear.. When I was 4 years, Dad had me sit on his shoulders while he water skied. OH I loved it up there...with the wind blowing my hair, I felt like I was flying. When I was 5, I learned to water ski by myself, dad cut a pair of skis down for me. By the time I was 7, I up and on the water with just one ski!! I get goose bumps thinking about...I loved those times. I also continued to sit on dad's shoulders, I think, until I was about 9-10 years old.
