Life
I'm happy to be living in Portland, Maine, where I have a little cottage, 2 cats and an interesting life. I am executive director of Friends of Casco Bay ~ The Baykeeper, working to improve and protect the environmental health of Casco Bay; we use a real humanly ecological approach and try to balance economic vitality with marine environmental health here in the first and sometimes second busiest oil port on the Eastern seaboard of the United States. I also sit on a college board, workout, hangout, travel when I can, and get out on the water not as often as I'd like. uding some stints as corporate treasurer, executive director of the Island Foundation on Mt. Desert Island, and consultant to wealthy family foundations in Maine and New York. That was preceded by a stint at the Island Institute, and before that public accounting for 5 years in Bangor, and before that operating a business just outside of Boston. This was all after a very rewarding number of years working in conservation biology and evolutionary behavior. What a path it's been - I feel very fortunate to have had one amazing opportunity after another arise, and to which I could apply my self, work hard, and reap the satisfaction even though there hasn't been much wealth involved. That'll have to be my next focus!
