Larry's Story

I enjoy reading good books such as Octavia Bulter: Lilith's Brood and Ngugi wa Thiong'o : Wizard of the Crow and my favorite The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran. Oh, I forgot, Stephen King: The Drawing of the Three. My friends probably remember me as being the invisible boy. I was around, and I hung around, but kind of low key. I guess that is why I still read so much. I always wanted to be a writer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was an absurd idea. As it turns out, they were aghast. I put on some smooth jazz and start writing. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have a lap top, music, and transquillity to be able to deal with the day-to-day. My real hero comes from Jesus Christ. When I read the Bible I can only imagine on the highest level his power. My earthly hero was my oldest brother Robert. I lived in Germany for seven years, and it was fantastic. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is my brother, because he really influenced me as a person. Law and Order, I am hooked, I can only watch Da Bear and Bulls win or lose. I think Flavor Fla has ruined any concept of any thing in reality. I love dogs and cats, but I am allegic to them. The biggest surprise of my life is nothing can surprise me anymore, that is why television invented Reality shows. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel my basement and add on a 80 inch HD television. My dream home would be where I live in my dreams. They are little people with their own problems, and they have no job because we have to take care of them, even when they are grown. The teacher I would like to see now would be my English teacher in High School, Miss. Jones, Ouch!! If I won $100 million, I'd give 10 % of it to my church, then spend the rest on travel, things and then I would be dead in two weeks. To many people under one roof, all your personal things are up for grabs. Nobody would admit who stole your secret stash. To be truly happy, I would rather be fishing with my brothers somewhere on a large boat, because they always made me laugh, especially at my faults. My current age is 54. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be on their stair way to Heaven. I was so completely naive. Write short stories, make money, write short stories, make more money I really don't know what happen to my first crush, I really think she ended...Expand for more
up with 12 or 14 kids, because she was totally experienced at 14, had me going in circles. My best friend would tell you I'm cool, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as wired. I wear jeans most of the times, but on Sundays I am in a suit. The weirdest job I ever had? Well, in the Army I had to move dirt from one pile and put it in another pile and then move it back to the original pile. Get this! It was not a punishment, it was a real job. I share my home with my wife, which I find her very fascinating. I have never, let me repeat, I have never met a woman so interesting. I really feel that a part of me was taken out and put into her, now I understand what a true SOUL MATE means. You will not believe this, I have never in my entire life won any type of trophies, not one, in any form or fashion. The one do-over that I would have done is taking a few pounds off my waist, the rings around my stomach just keep hanging around. In 10 years, I hope to be alive. I'm going to get there by eating right, and doing a little more exercise. My oldest friend is a friend of our family name Bernie Bibbs. This guy taught me how to drive and spent quality time with me when my brothers thought I was a pest. Bernie was always there to listen to me when I had kid problems, and I have never seen him angry even to this day. Everyone at my high school would be surprise to see me alive. I think many of them didn't think I would make it past 25, the road I was on was at warp (that is the right word)speed!!!! My first job was at Toys r Us, where I got paid $1.10 to $1.11 an hour. What I remember most about it is enjoying all the toys I gave my family and friends at X-mas, well, the toys I stole and gave to them at X-mas, did the statute of limitation run out yet for the crime? dang!! Our family had a dog who we called Blackie, yes, he was black, but he had one eye, three legs, no tail and one ear. He could out run, out jump, out climb, out anything against any dog in our entire surrounding hood. One day he died, (we suspect old age because we did not know how old he was, and some Black folks did not take their dogs to a vet because of finances). Our entire family dressed up like we were attending a real funeral and buried Blackie in our back yard. We all said something how Blackie affected our lives individually. True story.
