Cathy's Story
Life
Hello OLD friends! You have no idea how happy I am to be here! I'm curious to know if your lives have been anything like the roller coaster ride mine has been so far.
I attended our 20th reunion and got to see a few of my old buds while there, but became ill after only an hour and had to go home.
When I got back to Utah, I went straight to the doctor. I had finally had it with mystery illnesses striking at the most inopportune times. Bad news! It was discovered that I had hepatitis C. My liver was failing. Worse news  my marriage fell apart at the same time.
Good news! After long and arduous treatments over a six year stretch, I am alive and well. I've even been pronounced ÂcuredÂ! Hallelujah! I sure wasn't ready to check out!
Today (April 15, 2003) I am a healthy, happy, and single parent to three new children! I adopted a sibling group in September of 2000. They are now ages 7, 10 and 12. Together we have overcome many trials and tribulations and look forward to a bright and happy future.
My three grown children are all doing well in their lives and I am proud to say that I've somehow managed to raise intelligent, responsible and honorable, contributing members to society who are now raising my four grandchildren the be the same.
You may remember that I loved to draw and paint. I still do. Today I am a high school art teacher and I still do painting on the side. For the last few years I have been painting giant wall murals in homes and businesses.
I am also very active in my church. I became a 'Mormon' in 1979 and consequently got very involved in genealogical research. I traveled to England in the nineties on a family history quest and so far I have found over 4,000 ancestors in my family tree. My next stop is Australia!
Well there you have the highlights. I really mean it when I say, "It's great to be here!"
Peace and Love to you all!

Update 04/07/2006
I am still perfectly well and happy. The kids are same. Have had a major career change though. Last year my mother was diagnosed with leukemia and given only a few weeks to live. I went to California to be with her a...Expand for more
s she passed and she held on longer than her doctors thought possible. I closed her business, a small jewelry/bead and craft shop, in CA and brought her to live with me in Utah. I quit my job to nurse her full time until she died.
Apparently I'm a great nurse (really she has great doctors here). She didn't die. I've reopened her bead store here in Utah. Looks like Mom will be with me a few more years at least.
Being self employed is a little scary, but so far we're doing well.
I hope all is well with you.

Update, May 2007: You can call me the Bead Lady. Still running the bead business. I'm doing well; Mom and the rest of the family are doing well too. My oldest daughter (23) will probably be working with us in the store soon and that will make us a three generation family business.
Update, July 2008: Mom is still with me. :) Still running the bead shop and totally enjoying life. I just found out I'm going to be a grandmother again! This will be #5. Life is good! Peace.
Update, May 2009: Mother is in remission, bead shop is going strong despite the economy, hired two employees, down to two boys in the nest and starting to date again. OOOoooo, scary!
Update June 2010: The store is doing well! 2 full time and 6 part time employees and a new location as we've tripled the inventory. Needed a bigger store. Next is a second store and entertaining the possibility of franchising.
I have only one son (14) left at home now and Mom is still with me!
To those of you who have written me, I can't read messages here because I refuse to pay. FaceBook is free. Look for my business, Jewlz-beads.
Update January 2011: Hey! I can see messages suddenly! Cool! Maybe I'll hang out here a lot more. Thanks to Bonnie Hinds for luring me back. It was great to catch up on life.
Update 5/2015: Bead shop closed two years ago when the economy went bad and my mother needed full time care. She passed away last summer and now I'm just working as a cashier part time while making jewelry and running an online store. I'm enjoying life as Grandma and looking forward to serving a mission for my church in 2 years.
