Cathy's Story
Life
Hi there, I live in Florida now with my wonderful husband, Pete (of 49 years) We were married in 1966. We have 2 children (Laurie married to David), 1 grandson (Brady - 21years old, and a granddaughter, Amber who is 14 years old) and our son, Jeff (married to Kathleen - lives in San Diego ). I retired from the school system here in Pinellas County in December 2005 where I worked as a secretary. I lived in Oregon for 18 years and worked for the Beaverton School District there. I love visiting with friends, just hanging out by the pool and reading the Bible and other interesting books. I am working on my ancestry and have found out some wonderful things about my family that I didn't know. Both of my great grandfathers were Baptist ministers and I come from a long line of teachers and farmers who all worked hard for a living. We've made several trips to Tennessee for research on my dad's side of the family and one trip to Texas (where I was born) to visit my cousins. We have a Motorhome that we enjoy very much,in which we take our trips. I like writing to the people I knew growing up (it makes me feel younger). Write soon. Workplace
I started volunteering at the school our kids attended and then I ended up getting a job with the school system. In Beaverton, Oregon I worked at Cooper Mt. Elementary School for 13 years, then for the next 3 years I worked at Meadow Park Intermediate School. I worked in the office, print shop and the counseling office. Then in 1991 we moved to Florida. I worked as a secretary in the Administration Building of the Pinellas County School System in Largo, Florida for 14 years. My boss at the time of my retirement was the Director of Planning and Policy for the School Board. I enjoyed my boss, my co-workers, and job very much, but now I've come full circle and am back to volunteering. This time instead of the school system, I volunteered in the nursery at a nearby hospital. I took care of the babies and helped the nurses with whatever they needed. I also volunteered at the Pregnancy Center of Pinellas where we all work to save unborn babies and help mothers with their choices. I also volunteered in the church office answering phones during the week. I have ALS and am on Hospice. Only God knows the day and hour. Love, you all.
