Ceicily's Story
Life
I am married. We have been together for over 30 yrs, but got married only 19 1/2 yrs ago.
I still live in Brooklyn, and could not dream of living anywhere else.
My Kids
I have a 27yr old son, and an 19 yr daughter. They are my precious jewels. Now I am a Proud Grandma. My Grandaughter is Smart and Adorable
Education
I finally got my Bachelor's degree in 2002, and now I am working on my Masters.
My Job
I am a Program Coordinator overseeing 5 residential programs for Developmentally Disabled adults. It is hard at times, but in the long run it is rewarding. I have been with the same agency for over 23years, and have moved up the ladder of success.
The residential programs that I oversee, believe it or not, are located near both Bay Ridge High School Buildings.
School
After I graduated from P.S. 213, I went to George Gershwin JHS for one year, because I moved to Bed-Stuy. I then went to IS 258 for one year. I attended Bay Ridge H.S. after that. What a SHOCK. IT WAS AN ALL GIRL SCHOOL. My mother tricked me, she said it was a co-ed school. HAHAHA.
After Bay Ridge, I went to Hunter College for two years. Col...Expand for more
lege did not agree with me then.
In 1999 I went to Audrey Cohen College in Manhattan, and finally got the degree I should have gotten twenty years ago.
It was hard, but I finally did it, and graduated in 2002.
I am currently exploring going for my Master's in Psychology.
College
I started at Audrey Cohen College in 1999 to 2002. I studied hard, and graduted with some honors. Going to college was long overdue for me, and I finally made it. It was hard attending Audrey Cohen, but in the end it was worth it. I MADE LONG TIME FREINDS, AND WE STILL KEEP IN TOUCH. HOORAY!!!
Workplace
I started working at Broooklyn School for Special Children, it is now named Block Institute, in 1983. I am currently still employed with this agency. I have held various jobs starting as a direct care counselor, and now being promoted to Program Coordinator after I have graduated from College in 2002. The job has been rewarding, but at times I have been feeling overwhelmed due to the added responsibilites. The people who I am there to serve makes me forget about that, and remember the reason why I wanted to work with Developmentally Disabled adults.
