Chantelle's Story
Occupation: RETIRED AND LOVING IT!!!
Bio: After graduation, I went to American River College and earned an AA degree in Business Administration.
Right out of my two years of college, I went to work for the largest law firm in Honolulu as a legal secretary for a corporate attorney. After enjoying the island life, I came back to Sacramento and began working for the Employment Development Department as a stenographer (gosh, do we even have those anymore?). I sweated and toiled there for many years eventually working my way up to Data Processing Manager and then got recruited by one of the State data centers. I worked there for many years and got recruited by the Department of General Services working my way up to Assistant Chief of the Telecommunications Division. I finally retired (YES!!!) in 2004 at age 53 (sweet!) after almost 32 years of State service.
I first married at age 27 and divorced 18 years later. I remarried when I was about 52 (I proposed and he said yes!).
I now travel the world with my best friend and wonderful husband, Tom. So far we have been to Mexico and Jamaica many times, Venezuela, Thailand, Panama, India (during the tsunami!), the Netherlands, Belgium, France (ahhh, Paris!),...Expand for more
England, Costa Rica, Italy and Cambodia. When we travel, we usually go for several months in order to really experience a country and its people. I also squeeze in trips to Kauai with my sister when she's available.
When we're not flying around the world, we take road trips in our 2002 VW Eurovan Camper usually to get wild at reggae and world music festivals throughout California. We love music and dancing!
I really enjoy photography and take lots of pictures during our travels to capture the memories. Life is good!
I'm on the Encina 40th reunion committee and look forward to seeing fellow classmates sometime in the summer of 2009!
Hobbies: Photography, photography, photography. I just can't get enough of it and spend lots of enjoyable time in my digital photo lab.
Kids: I chose not to have children and devoted myself to my career with no regrets!
Surprises: Hmmm...at around age 21, I became a vegetarian and have been happy and healthy ever since. I attribute my vegetarianism to the fact that I weight less then I did in high school. Down is not usually the direction the scale goes over the years! And I use recycled vegetable oil biodiesel in my 1981 240D Mercedes Benz. Makes me feel so GREEN!
