Char's Story
I am an Elementary Reading Specialist working for the Allegan Public School System in the Title One Program. I work with Kindergarten through fifth grade students to help them become more proficient readers.
Prior to working in Allegan, I taught at a private Catholic school in Otsego for ten years as a third grade teacher.
This is my 30th year of teaching!
I have two grown sons- Brandon who is 22, attends Eastern Michigan University and is studying to be an Accountant, and Jeremy who is 18, and attending Western Michigan to begin his studies in Pre Med.
I truly enjoy my time in the summer to explore different things.
I posted an announcement about the upcoming 35th Class Reunion, and I am listed as the "Organizer".
Just to set the record straight, it would not let me type in all the Committee Members' names, so I'm the only name listed.
You should know that there is a group of your PNHS Classmates that are working one year ahead of schedule to make sure that if you choose to keep us updated with your current mailing and email addresses, we will make sure you are informed about any Reunion announcements and will do our best to offer the best Class Reunion possible.
Our goal is to have as good- if not better- a turn out for the 35th as we did the 30th.
Please mark your calendar for next summer July 31- August 2, 2009 and join us for the Class Reunion.

I hope my old friends still remember me, because I am fortunate enough to still remain close to severa...Expand for more
l of them, and see them on a regular basis.
Not many of us can boast that we have friends from 35 or so years back!!
My friends hopefully will remember me as being alot of fun to be around. I have so many crazy memories of my girlfriends and I in high school and the things we did- well, we're just darned lucky to still be alive and have all our limbs!!
I love to laugh and have a good time, sometimes to the extent that I can get a bit goofy.
But I think it is that "kid" in me that comes out every so often that keeps me feeling young and full of energy.
I spend my day at school working with six year olds, observing their enthusiasm and excitement with learning to read, and it's wonderfully contagious!!
I always wanted to be a teacher when I grew up thanks to Mrs. Buelke, my second and third grade teacher at Milham Elementary. I adored her. She was the first teacher I had that told me I was creative, and she made me believe in myself. I told her I wanted to be just like her when I grew up.
Not only Mrs. Buelke, but also my parents and my friends thought that this was a fabulous idea. Probably because I could be found playing school in my bedroom at just about any given moment when I was growing up. I would string a clothes line across my room and use clothes pins to hang up my students' work.
As it turns out, they were all right about me becoming an educator.
I went back to visit Mrs. Buelke's classroom while I was a student at WMU, and thanked her for being my first role model.
