Charis's Story
To begin my story I entered South with the class of "63" but graduated with the class of "65". At the end of the first semester of my junior year I quit and went to Model School of Hair Design, graduated, passed my state boards and became a licensed hairdresser. My first job was at the Looking Glass salon at Daytons. Another girl was hired fresh out of school the same day I was. We became friends and I found out that she was making more per hour than I was. a high school diploma. That bothered me and I checked into getting my diploma. The timing worked out that I could step back in at the beginning of the second semester 2 years later. Only this time around I had a lot more fun and got a lot more involved in activities. I was a natural for doing the hair and makeup for the class play and the hostesses for the senior prom. And the ever forgetable singing in the homecoming talent show wearing a potato sack. Working on the Southerner staff. Those were my highlights. more later.
