Charlanne's Story

After graduation from Bellarmine-Jefferson High School, I worked at Lockheed Aircraft Corporation. I was then employed at the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association in Pasadena. Following a move to Orange County, CA, I worked for the aerospace firm of Bertea Corporation and the architect offices of William Pereira Associates, both in Irvine, CA. I was then employed and worked in various positions within the Coast Community College District (three Colleges ¿ Golden West College as Dean of Business & Information Systems (mid-90¿s to 2005), Coastline Community College as Dean of Business and International Studies (charter staff from 1976 to 1994), and Orange Coast College as Evening College Office Manager (early 70¿s). Throughout the years, while full-time employed, from the early 1960¿s through 1999, I attended college courses in the evenings and earned the following degrees: Bachelors in Business, University of Redlands Masters in Business Administration, University of Redlands Doctorate in Educational Management, Pepperdine University Masters in Career Counseling through Chapman University Professional accomplishments and awards included: Award of first annual Recognition of Excellence award from the Southern California Consortium for Telecourses. Administered contract education offices at Norton and Dover Air Force Bases. Accreditation team membership for Council for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education. esented at community colleges nationwide on topics including Telecourse Instruction and International Business coursework. Over the years, I have been fortunate to stay in touch with old friends from the Cabrifin Club of St. Finbar¿s Church in Burbank. These valued friendships go back to the early 60¿s with an annual dinner around Thanksgiving. My husband, Paul, and I were married May of 1987. We live in the city of Orange, in Orange County, CA. Since the early 90¿s we have had numerous travel and cruise experiences to a variety of venues including: England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, Switzerland, Austria, Alaska, China, Japan, Greece, Turkey, Panama Canal, and many of the Caribbean Islands. In addition, every summer we visit Paul¿s family at the beautiful lake of Hartwell, GA. At least three days a week, we try to stay fit through gym workouts at a local community college. We also keep up our skiing skills with trips to Mammoth Lakes, CA, Banff Springs, Canada, Snowmass, CO, along with Heavenly Valley (NE) and Kirkwood, CA. Most recently we have enjoyed a road trip to Yellowstone National Park, Jackson Hole, WY, Zion National Park, and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. This past winter we also drove to Snowmass & Denver, CO area where we also visited Pike¿s Peak. We are planning a road trip to the Glacier National Park early this summer. I will be traveling to Alaska with the 50th High School Reunion group in August of this year (Paul prefers warm weather...). Life is good. Retirement is fantastic. We highly recommend it!
