CLASS OF 1976
North providence, RI

Charlene's Story

Life Since leaving NPH I have attained a BA, Secondary Education/Social Science; M.Ed. Secondary Education/Gifted Education;C.A.G.S., Curriculum from RIC; and a MA in Counseling from PC..In 1980, I returned to NPH as a substitute teacher, and then in 1987 I was hired full time as a Social Studies teacher and since December 2004 a guidance counselor. I can be reached at NPH, during the day (233-1150 ext 3111)....At North Providence High School I have been the cheerleading and majorette coach, the drama director, international club advisor, booster club advisor, the class advisor for the class of 2004 and currently class advisor for the class of 2008. Additionally, I have been a member of the School Improvement Team, written most of the current standards based social studies curriculum, a standards chairperson for School Support Standard for the 2002 NEASC accreditation evaluation, and I am currently a member of the steering committee for the 2008 SALT visit by the department of education. In the community, I wrote a grant for the town for a millenium theater production entitled Y2Kabaret that I directed for performances in October and December 1999. The Y2Kabaret was a parody of the towns history and was performed to a packed house at NPH. I have basically run the North Providence Boosters Association Banquet for the last 15 years, and if anyone would like to make a tax deductible donation, particulary if you are a former athlete or MVP winner, write the check to the North Providence Boosters Association and mail it to me at NPHS. The few of us who run the organization are trying to keep it alive till at least age 50, last year was 43 years. We purchase all the championship banners in the gym, MVP trophies, and award two scholarships to athletes who meet academic standards, thus we can use any donations sent to us. I am online often, sunpsych3 on American online...doing research and connecting with friends. I live in the same house as I did when I was a stud...Expand for more
ent at NPH, my parents died, mom in '82 and dad in '84. I do not have any children of my own, but 5 nephews that I cherish, David, Jonathan, Mitch, Dylan and Colby, and I spoil them horribly. David graduated in 2006 from NPH, where he was a member of the National Honor Society, and class President in his Freshman, Sophomore and Senior years. He took full advantage of the Honors Program having attained 36 college credits while still at NPH and currently attends URI as an International Business Major. Jonathan is currently at NPH as a sophomore, he too is in the honors program. Mitch is at Birchwood in the 7th grade, Dylan (1st grade) and Colby(Kindergarten) are at Whelan School. I do have pets though, a black and white male Siberian husky that has ice blue eyes, a very fat long hair cat, and a stray cat that I brought into the house in 2002, who let me pet her when she lived outside and now she won't allow it. I had a red and white female Siberian husky who died in 2004 and this summer my beautiful black cat died. I have been a card reader/psychic for the past 17 years and do home parties and private readings, as well as readings at White Light Book store on Park Avenue in Cranston most Saturdays. I am also certified in two healing modalities, Reiki and Magnified Healing, I prefer the Reiki healing for people because it is equivalent to a light massage, whereas the Magnified Healing is a little too religious based, which I think makes people uncomfortable. I have worked privately as a free lance writer/editor for a variety of individuals including psychologists and businessmen, working on books and grant writing. I have also written a historical romance that I completed in 1982, The Pirate's Conquest, which is copyrighted under unpublished works in the Library of Congress in Washington,DC...someday when I retire, I will submit it to a publisher for publication. If wanting to contact me do so at NPH or the aol account mentioned, I don't have a gold account here.
