L. Charlene's Story

Life I lived from 1974 through 2002 in the San Francisco Bay Area, except for one year in Portland, Oregon (1975-76). My sister Brenda passed away in May 1976. I lived for two years in New Mexico from '02 to '04. I returned to the Bay Area in September '04 and then moved to the L.A. area in March of '05. I have two daughters, one in college and the other a college grad. My third divorce will be final in February of '06. School High school was tough for me because my family moved so much. I attended four different high schools, one of them twice (Dayville). I never got to settle in or settle down and being accepted by other teens was rare (the ex...Expand for more
ception was East Valley High in Spokane). Thank goodness I took learning seriously, it was one of the things that helped me get through my teen years. I still enjoy learning to this day and try to remember the teachers I had who encouraged me to be myself. College I went to work straight out of high school. Six years later I attended City College of San Francisco. My first child was just a few months old when I started college -- I was still breastfeeding her! Nonetheless I made the Dean's List. My one regret is that only half of my teachers there were any good. I stopped going to college because I went through a divorce and had to go back to work.
