Charlene's Story

Life Thanks for stopping by! I haven't stayed in touch with most people from Fairborn or from PHHS. I moved to Phoenix 15 years ago because of a job (Computer Task Group) but stayed because I love the desert. I stay in touch with Kim Horne (PHHS 77 who graduated early), Bitto Gorowara (PHHS 77), Jan (Daley) Wooles (BHS 77), and Bill Minckler (PHHS 78). I've also reconnected with Matt and Judy Sauer (WSU 83). I have been in touch with Scott Wise (Ridgewood 85) off and on through the years. I've tried to find some of you over the years, and have connected again with a handful of you. It's great to find out what you are all doing. I've never married and I have a cat, talk about stereotypes. I'm very happy with my life and myself and don't feel like anything is missing. I am still hopeful that I will find a great love. My life is too good on my own to settle for anything less. The most interesting thing about my life has been my spiritual journey. It's not a traditional story, but one I'm willing to share with anyone who asks. I've always been a writer, and over the years I've had poetry published, written feature articles for a few publications, and attempted to become a screenwriter. At the same time, I've never abandoned art. I've sold handmade jewelry at a Phoenix area boutique. Now that I'm settled into a house, I'm converting the guest bedroom into a studio so I can spend more time making art than I do putting away the art supplies. I believe that life is what you make it. I'm more concerned about being the kind of person I want to be than anything else. My inner journey is always a priority in my time and energy. I strive to be a glass-half-full kind of gal. I'm pretty flexible and tolerant, and make an effort to allow everyone the space to live their own life and make their own choices. I'm learning that I can be very happy without needing to control the circumstances around me and in the world. I go with the flow the best I can, and encourage everyone to follow his or he...Expand for more
r own heart in life. Check out my photos and use my business card to reach me if you want to reconnect. Workplace I started my career teaching kids to use computers. It was the first year that Ohio certified computer teachers, so I was a pioneer. I loved interacting with the kids, but I felt bored and was looking for a greater challenge. I started teaching adults how to use computers in the workplace, and then started developing computer-based training for an Air Force modernization project. I realized that if I stayed in Fairborn, I was most likely going to keep doing DoD work, and I wanted something different. I took a job with Computer Task Group in the headquaters of their Multimedia development group in Phoenix. The job didn't measure up to the promise, but Phoenix turned out to be fabulous. After a few years of climbing the corporate ladder and hating every minute of it, I decided to go into business for myself. I still work long hours, but I do it from my den, and I decide my day-to-day schedule. I love it. I never managed to work for anyone else for more than 2 years, and I've been self-employed for 13 years now. I guess I finally found a boss I could put up with long term. My company has grown from just keeping me busy to where I hire other people to work on projects. It's amazing to be able to help other people reach their dream of working from home. I currently have work lined up for the next 18 months, which is a real luxury for contract work. I'm always looking for new clients to fill in the gaps in my schedule and to bring on new people. Most of my clients are either software companies or large organizations that are implementing customized software. I help them to integrate the software into the jobs of their employees. Sometimes I do business analysis work, other times I do software training programs and e-learning courses, and the rest of the time I write online help systems. I love the variety of the work, and I love learning how people do their jobs.
