I always wanted to be a marine engine mechanic when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. My father and I attended weekend marine engine repair schools that were sponsored and paid for by the companies that manufactured the engines. As it turns out, they were kind of right. I did that for a while before joining the USCG. I was an officer-in-charge of a station and an electronics teacher in the Coast Guard. After working as a civilian for the Navy, I took retirement. I traveled around the world. Visited Russia before the wall came down. Visited China just after Nixon did. Was about to enter Burma when war broke out and decided that was not a good idea. Saw a lot of the world. Started 2 schools for women in India. Started a very successful work against FGM in Kenya. Lived "down under" in Australia. Currently working in Hawaii as the resident manager of Atkinson Plaza Condominium. Nominated 2 years in a row for Resident Manager of the year. I have a wall full of awards. I spend a lot of time after hours swimming in the ocean. I blow off steam by playing video games like "supercow" and "angry birds." My Savior and Hero is Jesus Christ. He has never failed me. I teach a Saturday morning Bible Study at the local Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center and am the assistant chaplain for 2 Sunday services at the only U.S. Salvation Army Addition Treatment Services facility.
