Charles's Story
After Leaving West Van High in 1958 spent two years at Radio Electronics College in Vancouver. Headed for the UK and worked for Union Castle as a Radio Officer for two years. Traveled from Southampton to South Africa for two years. Met my future wife Diana on a voyage from South Africa to the UK .. In 1962 returned to Vancouver and joined IBM Canada as a Customer Engineer. Married my wife Diana of 46 years in 1964. Was on a teaching assignment with IBM in Nassau Bahamas in 1970 for two years and returned to Vancouver in late 1972. 977 and in 1979 I was transferred to Hamilton Ontario as Branch Manager of Service there for 10 years. In 1989 I was transferred as Planning Manager for the Western Region and was there till 1992 when I took a retirement option after 30 years of service with IBM. Since my retirement I have been active in volunteer work at Vancouver School of Theology and the Board of St. Andrew's Hall at U.B.C.
My wife Diana and I retired to Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast in 1996 and enjoy gardening and being involved in local community affairs. In addition, we have been able to do extensive travel to South Africa, the UK and Japan as well as Hawaii and California.
