Charles's Story

Hi Old friends. I have been to this website probably 4 times in last few years but was alwasy to busy to really use it service. Tonight I did. I was amazed at how many of you are memebers. It brought back alot of memories seeing some of your names. Exciting and scarey at the same time. It is funny how 4 years of your life that you were trying to hurry up and get through are now the 4 years that you wish you could relive. Man you guys are getting old, TWENTY YEARS have gone by. Well I have changed alot and learned alot about myself in the last 20 years. I currently live in South Carolina (bout 6 months of the year) and the California and Maine the other 6 months. I travel alot. I will explain that later. Right after school I went to college as did alot of you. Talk about hating school. I hated it. I went to highschool because I had too but somehow going to college for a career I was gonna be stuck in the rest of my life wasnt for me. I also think I wasnt mature enuff to make deicision that big. So I left college and became stripper. Ha ha right. I wanted to make good money but wanted to like what i did. Well after a fews years in a public job, I one day foundmyself looking at my future. It was far far from the electronic engineering I was taking in school. So with my new found enthusiam I left the public job market and started my own business and have never looked back. Been 13 years and it was tuff but today i am very happy. Mentally it was the best thing I could have ever done. Financially I make 20 times what I could have made with my degree in electronics. Oddly enough my career has probably affect each and everyone of you directly or indirectly. Now your probably wondering what I do. Well I am a Commerical Apiarist. (beekeeper). never saw that one coming. Now back to the traveling I mentioned earlier. My main focal point with my work is cross country pollination. So I take my bees to California and maine for pollination of Almonds, oranges, blueberries, cherries, melons so and so on. By now you get the picture. I have a partner in business with me and curent...Expand for more
ly we are the largest commerical operation in SC. I took me a while to realize that you dont always have t take the well traveled path to be happy and prosperous. Now looking back I have no regrets. I have been to bout 40 of the states and traveled a good bit outside the country so I get to see alot of the world. If everything stays as it has I plan to retire at 45. With all this said I often fel like I cheated myself in school. I studied hard to get the good grades and never really stopped to enjoy those years. I vowed to myself after I turned 26 to ever be that way again. I am as happy as I could ever be. It all goes back to onething. Often people spend so much time following a path they have chosen and when they finally get to the end they are saddened by what they have, often it isnt as great as it seemed early on. So its ok to change your path asmany times as you need long as ur happy. Ok I am over my Dr Phil moment. When I am not working I spend alot of my time at car shows. I am a avid Mustang collector/builder. Most of my friends call it an obcession. I dont see what they mean I have only had 18 of them over the last 8 years LOL. As for kids and such. Well none of them. My lab was stolen a year ago so I cant even bring myself to get another one. I stay on the road way to much anyways. I am sure there is ton more I could tell you but I hate typing and my speelchecker gave up a long time ago. I go back to Leland often. My sister lives there and my parents moved to the Whiteville/Chadbourn area. So not to far from Leland. Everytime I do pass thur I look to see if i wll run into anyone but never do. I just figured everyone had moved away. If any of you see me please speak. i am easy to spot I am still 6'5 or 6'6 somehting like that. The more I type here tonight the more I am glad I finally logged into the sight. So I hope all of you are doing well and have achieved your goals or are still working toward them. Please feel free to email me. Even when on the west coast or up north I keep a laptop with me. Damn computers cant live without em now. Take care
