Charles's Story
Life
I am currently a Power Engineer in Verizon Communications ( New Jersey). I Engineer the DC Power Plants for 42 Central Offices throughout the state. I also am a 23 yr Air force Veteran (First Sergeant). I currently have two son's Charles III (10) and Christopher (7).
Military
Master Sergeant Charles C. Cobbertt Jr. is First Sergeant and a National Registered Emergency Medical Technician with the Aerospace Medical and Dental Squadron, 514th Air Mobility Wing, McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey.
Sergeant Cobbertt was born in Orange, New Jersey. He entered the Air Force Reserves in August 1984 and after Basic Training attended the Medical Service Specialist School at Sheppard Air Force Base, TX. His first assignment was with the 72nd Aero Medical Evacuation Squadron, McGuire AFB, New Jersey. He transferred from the Air Force Reserves and joined Active Duty as Medical Service Specialist with the 35th Medical Services Squadron, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH where he was assigned to the Surgical Intensive Care and Critical Care Units. re he worked in Primary Care and Ambulance Services. He was assigned to Pope AFB after yet another base closing where he was Asst NCOIC of Operations and flew as an Aero medical Evacuation Technician. His job included writing Concept of Operations Plans (CONOPS) and flying Aero medical Evac missions. While stationed at Pope AFB he was deployed to Saudi Arabia, Kenya, Haiti and Bosnia for Joint Contingency Operations. Sergeant Cobbertt returned to the 514th Air Mobility Wing after leaving active duty for a period of 10 years in 1996. He is currently the NCIOC of Physical Exams, a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Instructor and former Self Aid Buddy Care Wing Advisor for McGuire AFB, NJ. Sergeant Cobbertt has also accepted the position of First Sergeant of the 514th AMDS. Sergeant Cobbertt holds a Degree in Electrical Engineering from DeVry University and he is currently pursuing a second degree in Management from the University of Phoenix on-line. He currently holds the title of Power Engineer / Network Planning & Engineering for the state of New Jersey within Verizon Communications in his civilian capacity. He is married to the former Cheryl E. Robinson and has 2 children Charles III and Christopher.
