Charles's Story
Hello to the tiger family. I attended Cohn High during my 10th and 11th grade years. I transfered to Pearl my senior year and majored in trowel trades ( Mr. Howlett). I grew up in preston taylor housing projects. I played 8th and 9th grade basketball at W.A. Bass Jr. High. I could not finish my Basketball career due me not passing my physical. I am the 11th of 12 children. You may remember me from my little brother Michael Fanning. I attended charlotte skating ring every sunday for years. I was very quite at Pearl due to my focus on graduating. This was the main reason for me attending Pearl. I got off to a very bad start at Cohn High. My High school Counselor directed and mentored me to transfer. I attended Fisk University Upward Bounds for 3 years. While at Fisk I discovered my self worth for life where as before all I knew was the housing projects. When I graduated from Pearl I attended Tennessee State University. One year after attending TSU, I Joined the U.S. Navy Reserves. In August of 1987, I graduated from Tennessee State University. I have a B.S. in Criminal Justice. 03,1989 I tranfered to the Federal Correctional Institution in Jesup, Ga as a Legal Instrument Examiner. While in Jesup I was promoted to Inmate Systems Supervisor. On December 17, 1992 I transfered to the Fedaral Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, Ny as the Supervisory Inmate System Supervisor. On October 12, 1995 I transfered to the Federal Correctional Complex in Yazoo City, Ms as a Correctional Counselor. On February 28, 2012 I retired from the U.S. Department of Justice/Federal Bureau of Prisons with 23 years of service. During my years with the Federal Bureau of Prisons I have seen or counseled some of America's most notable people (John Gotti, america gangstas Supreme, The first World Trade center bombers Ramsi Yuseff, Jim Baker ...... and some I cannot name. I now live in Jackson, MS. Home of the Jackson State Tigers. I have been married for the last 13years and we are in the mist of seperating. I raised 3 Girls in this relationship. I have no biological children of my own Just the 3 girls that I raised from my wife. While at TSU I pledged Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated. I am a member of the Masons Prince Hall Affiliation. Well there are alot of things in life that I have experienced, but I must say it has been very hard.
