Charles's Story

Charles is from Dallas, Texas. He is ... well, it's complicated. His schools include Skyline High School. He later attended Columbia College. He works(ed) at Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute.Charles Lee Gilmore enterd the United States Army on 21 October 1977, nearly a year early before graduation in 78. I stayed in service for approximately 28 years before retiring from the Army in Augusta. Later moved to St. Louis Missouri as a Sr High School teacher, then on to Florida as a Senior EO EEO Academic Instructor Facilitator. United States Department of Defense 2008-2010 I lead trained and motivated over 240 students annually during all Federal Accredited Equal Employment Resident Courses. Provided institutional agency service-specific training using informational, experiential, and behavioral methodologies. Facilitated group process using adult learning methods, and role-models clarification and reflection small group interventions; conducted lectures and lead group discussions with simulations. Students range from GS11-15 grade level, EEO Directors, Managers, Civilian Personnel/Human Resource Management Personnel and Attorneys who have been assigned primary responsibility for managing a major aspect of a Federal Department Civil Rights and Diversity Outreach Division. I trained senior leaders to eliminate incidents of sexual harassment and assault. Eliminated incidents of sexual harassment and assault utilizing, training, victim advocacy, and prevention. I instructed students on ways to provide advocacy services to victims of sexual assault and sexual harassment. Students were trained on conducting assessments with personnel to evaluate needs and make proper recommendations. 2010-2013 Lead trained and motivated over 240 student annually during all Federal Accredited Equal Employment Resident Courses. Managed this program designed to teach high school students the value of citizenship, leadership, service to the community, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment, while instilling in them self-esteem, teamwork, and self-discipline. Prepared high school students for responsible leadership roles while making them aware of their rights, responsibilities, and privileges as American citizens. Motivated and mentored students towards high school graduation. Responsible for the management and accountability of the JROTC program annual budget, equipment, and training resources. 1995-1998 Served as the Commanders eyes and ears on matters affecting mission readiness. Primary advisor on regulatory compliance, EO/Affirmative Employment. Responsible for emphasizing support to the soldier, adapting the IG system. Processed and investigated all inspector general action requests, and performed over 100 inspections annually.
