Charles's Story
Whew! The time has flown by. I worked as an engineer with the MoPac RR out of high school. It was odd to run freight trains right by the school and watch students running track or playing ball. I enjoyed playing basketball and tennis at SHHS.
I married Debi Earnest, a girl that I attended Sunday School with from childhood. We have two daughters that have given us four grandsons. They keep us busy.
At 30 God called me to preach and I attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. After we celebrated our 21st year as Pastor of First Baptist Church Neches, Texas (between Palestine and Jacksonville. After serving as a Pastor for 30 years I'm Staff Evangelist at Concord Baptist Church and Chaplain with Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Palestine at the Joe F. Gurney Unit..

of Montalba. That's where my mother and father attended school when they were young. I preached my father's funeral in '04 and mother's in '05.
My wife and I sing and I've been blessed as our church has allowed me to preach and sing in over 60 revivals in various states. We have a heart for missions as well and the Lord has sent me to preach in Africa (twice), Australia, Peru, Mexico, Honduras, Israel, Ukraine, Canada and the Philippines.
Watching people step from the threshold of hell to the threshold of heaven is such a blessing! Introducing people of all walks of life to the Lord Jesus Christ has been such a priviledge and an honor. My favorite song is still ... Jesus Loves Me. Godly parents etched His love and forgiveness into my fabric at an early age. I shall be forever grateful!
Debi retired from 21 years of teaching 6th Grade. We have 4 grandsons from our daughters Celeste and Cari. We enjoy taking them fishing and hunting at the farm.
