Charles's Story

Life After graduation I moved to Texas to live with my father. I started school at UT Austin in Sept, '65 and bounced around three or four departments before settling on American Studies. Dropped out before graduating and got drafted. Because I'd worked in the SDS against the war effort, the army flagged my records and wouldn't send me overseas. When I got out, I lived in Dallas for a while and got married. It only lasted a few months and I returned to School and finished my degree in '75. oth the County Health Department and the State Health Department before returning to school for a Masters in Public Health. During this time I met and married my second wife. I went back to work as a Health Educator and, about the time My wife decided she wanted to move back to Indiana, I decided that I wanted to get my PhD. I'm currently separated from my third wife but have custody of my two children (Alice - 8, and Charles - 4). I expect to finish my dissertation sometime in the near future and hope to continue doing research for the medical school here in Galveston.
