Charles's Story

After Amundsen in 1949 there was working, Wright Junior College, The University of Illinois in Champagne/Urbana, working again, the U.S. Army for one year, nine months and 28 days (but who counted), and back to Urbana. a BS degree in Metallurgical Engineering, followed by grad school at Purdue in Industrial management. Worked for Armco Steel for a couple of years when I got to itch to find out what these things called computers were, That led to 33 years with IBM in the Detroit area (where I could also play my favorite--amateur hockey) and eleven more with Compuware. ee times to speak to DB2 user groups and found that long flights on 747's gets boring. Since then it has been a peaceful environment. I married in 1957 and still am due to a patient wife. Two sons--one female grandchild and twin boys grand children as well. Amundsen wasn't too special to me because I had a snap job with WBKB-TV lugging their equipment around for sporting events away from their studios at State & Lake. Got to see a lot of different sports plus one Easter sunrise service and a dog show. It didn't pay much but the free admission to a ton of games made it worthwhile if you're a sports nut.
