Charles's Story
I graduated from 33rd Avenue High School in 1969 (the last class).
In the fall of '69 (right after Hurricane Camille) I attended University of Southern Mississippi as a music major and graudated with a B. Mus in 1973.
I immediately went to Los Angeles and earned my Master's Degree in Choral Music in 1976 from the University of Southern California.
I began teaching music at Los Angeles Southwest College in 1976 and married in 1977. The marriage ended in divorce in 1982. I have no children and never remarried (though I came close several times.)
After a long, wonderful career of teaching at LASC, I retired in January of 2008 and I am currently residing in Covington Georgia. I have the time to pursue my first love which is music composi...Expand for more
tion (primarily modern classical).
I am now able to write what I want, when I want and I don't have to worry about it selling because I've been financially blessed.
As of today (May 13, 2008) I'm doing new house stuff: furninshing, landscaping and general getting the thing to my liking.
I love retirement and I was only able to take an early retirement at 56 years old because I was fortunate enough to work for a College system that pays 100% of retiree health benefits. Otherwise I would have probabaly had to continue working until Medicare age.
I got married again on May 29, 2009!
One of my favorite songs has a line that goes:
"When I look around and I think things over, all of my good days outweigh my bad days so I won't complain."
