Charles's Story
It’s been a bit more than three years since I joined Classmates, and there’ve been a few changes in my life. I now live near Hershey, Pennsylvania with my wife, Pat. We moved here from Rockville toward the end of 2021 to be nearer our youngest daughter and her three children, who live in Hershey. Since the move we’ve been blessed with a fourth grandchild, Theo, who lives in Philly. Our third daughter lives in Encinitas, a distance from us, but a great place to vacation!
After high school I went to Maryland, got a degree in Philosophy, then went on to Hopkins. I worked for the Federal Government for many years. My wife and I are now both retired and enjoying life. We’ve volunteered through the community and our church, teaching children and helping the elderly. We traveled frequently, often with friends...and look forward to doing so again very soon. This past year we’ve focused more on each other, our family, our ...Expand for more
friends, and on learning and growing.
As in most lives, there’ve been struggles and losses, but much more joy than tears...and I’m grateful. I’ve been blessed.
Looking back on high school, I know I was fortunate then, too. I had lots of great friends, Don Kahn, Ivan Markowitz, Betsy Park, Robbie Vass, Peggy Kelly...so many! There were folks who’d been my friends since grade school at Pinecrest...Scott MacDougal, Bob and Richie Farmer, Lynn Crissey, Sharon McCeney, Greg Maslow, Nancy Widmayer. I can’t think of anyone who wasn’t just terrific! And I was blessed to have known two very, very special girl friends...Sandy Henderson and Jeanne Taylor!
I’m sad that I didn’t kept in touch with everyone from NHS. That was my shortcoming. But, since joining Classmates, I’ve managed to connect with some old friends and make a few new ones. I hope that continues to be the case. So please don’t be surprised to get a note from me.
