Charles's Story

I have deleted this account as of 8/11/2022 Christian Co. HS, Hopkinsville, KY Class of '82 Lots of hard work, fun, and fun and some more fun. The reunions; well, most of them have been nice tho interest seems to be dropping off in the last 20 yrs or so. Guess that's to be expected. Military '82-'88 As the 2nd half of "The Beef Trust" I spent 3 glorious yrs. in Planet Gerp humping tents and raising hell in Charlie Co. My primary job was keeping SSG McNeil (aka Sgt. Psycho) on his toes along with SFC Van Gilder, SSG Rendon, SFC Henry, and Capt. "Ranger Lew" Thomas. I also gave considerable attention to keeping Sgt. Kristek as agitated as possible. I made sure the ladies did their fair share of the back work. What a great group of people to have had the privilege of serving with. Wasn't it cool that Capt. Thomas would get so pissed off (about who knows what?) that he'd send the whole company home?!! I hope everyone is healthy and has prospered. I also continue to pray for the repose of the soul of 1st Sgt. Moore (aka Drifty Chitlins) who really was okay in retrospect. God bless you all wherever you may be and especially those of you still serving! Where are you Ruiz???? and Bowman? and Ike Reger? and Kim Davis? Met up with Brian "Mac" McCormick in KY in 1989 or '90. He was married to a young lady in the Army and was PCS'ing with her to Ha...Expand for more
waii. SFC Henry's wife was in the 299th list for several years, but she's gone now. Used to enjoy watching SGT (Marcell) Newton stand there and shake his head with that smile...Wonder whatever happened with Derrick Ball and Pam Wagenmaker? Anyone remember the summer trip to Chiemsee with Scanlon, Jorge Wagner, Sheena Dancey, and the gang? Kitty (who became the Queen of Military Clothing Sales) and I had as much fun in mid '80's Germany as possible. We brought our first daughter, Amanda, home with us in '88. Prior to that, a few years with the 93rd Evac Hospital at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. Sure miss SGT Bob Davis, my room dog Ken Knowles, Bobby Still, Alfred Z. Probst, Bob Tippitt (who went AWOL), Ed Jones, Billy Bagwell, Easter Johnson and Keith 'K-tel' Townshend. Gallant Eagle '84 at Ft. Irwin was another world. Thanks to the Navy Corpsman that got the sand out of my eye with no permanent damage. Peace out! Roscoe "Lunch" Rozelle Austin Peay State Univ. '91-'93 B.S. Biology, Minor: Chemistry '99 M.S.
