Charles's Story
After graduating (finally) from NMSU, I made a career overseas. I worked in the oilfields in Egypt, Sudan, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Thailand, Indonesia and many other countries. One of my favorite places was Egypt, where I made many friends, especially the students and parents at CAC (Cairo American College. I left Egypt in early '79, being transferred to Athens. While in Athens I worked all of N.Africa and the Middle East for 2 1/2 years. I was then made District Manager in Abu Dhabi and spent 3 1/2 years there. I spent another 2 years working the rigs in S.E. Asia before getting out of the oilfield and starting a completely different career in the Dive Industry. I spent another 12 years working as a dive instructor, underwater photographer- videographer in Australia, Indonesia, Fiji, Hawaii and the Virgin Islands. If any of the students at CAC during my years in Egypt ('76 - '79) read this, please leave a note, especially the students who graduated in '77 or '78 and who spent a few evening at the Saddle Club with Mike Brownlow and myself : )
I now live in Colorado, but still travel as much as possible. At the time I am writing this (27 Oct. '08), I am on my way back to Colorado after spending 11 months in Hawaii working for a small engineering company. I was hired for a 6 month stint, but was able to stay for an additional 5 months.
When in Colorado, I work, prospect for gold and diamonds, and ride my bike. Great rides in my part of the world, some of them very technical. I have posted several photos on this site, and would appreciate hearing from any of the people who are shown. I have many other photos to be digitized, and when I get the chance I will post others also.
