Charles's Story
Hello..
I just thought this would be easier to just post this vita stuff...Just think, and some thought I was only a basketball player, oh, that was me...lol
I have beautiful kids, my oldest daughter lives in Marysville with her husband and my two beautiful grand babies, and my next daughter is playing basketball for University of Pittsburgh, Greensburg, Pa. my oldest son is living in Iowa and doing great, my next son is in the 9th grade and playing ball for the 10th grade team and wearing my number "22", he I am sure will exceed my basketball accomplishments. I have another son, that plays baseball and basketball and another daughter, both are in elementary school.
Oh...and I was turned down from entering into Science Hill Hall of Fame for playing basketball, but this was really not unexpected. but it was for my daughter who nominated me... but that's a story for another day...I was never defined by basketball at Science Hill and for a moment I was angry, but only to realize that in the big picture, as I have shown you, it has no meaning.
I do miss some of the great friendships that I had during those days, my boys in the Optimist club, man did we do some things that I look back on today and wonder how we made it..lol..lol.., my crew from the projects and the black communities of that time. To the teacher who called me in his office to share threats of the father of a girl I was friends with, just thought I would throw that one in. To Debbie and her family for teaching me how to water ski and allowing me to come to there place on the lake, even when others of that community complained to them about my being there, because I was black. Her and her family will always be a part of who I am today, as well as Scott Lusk's family, Tracy Puckett's family and Lou Humpries mom, Joy's family, Judge Good and family, Coach Tipton, Coach Greenwell and family to mention just a few. I could go on and on, but I will stop, you see there was so much more to Science Hill for me than just basketball.
To Beth - rest in peace, you are missed.
Best Wishes and I truly would enjoy hearing from friends and others .......
