Charles's Story
September 2012: writing a new college textbook: Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Counter Terrorism. Also this year, brought out the 11th edition of my Criminal Investigation textbook (McGraw Hill) and the 8th edition of Police Administration (Prentice Hall). In March, I was crossing 45th Street at Times Square in NYC, pulling my suitcase when I got hit by a bus. About 250 on corner; one good soul pulled me out of the street. Joined the Marine Corps shortly after graduation, then served as a Tampa PD officer and detective. Worked for Governor Kirk in Tallahassee as Deputy Director for criminal justice policy before a career as a faculty member and administrator at the University of Georgia, from which I retired in 2001. For fun these days I spend time with my 6-year old granddaughter, collect civil war buttons and belt buckles, travel, and swim (I ran for so many years that I was left with bad knees and needed a non-impact exercise), and adore my wife, Paige.
