Charles's Story

Hey everybody, how's it going. After highschool I attended Vincennes U. (junior college) for one year after which I went into the military (Air Force, that is after receiving my draft notice). I said that if I'm going to have to go I might as well go into something I will enjoy. During my hitch in the military I married Sandra Zehring (that was a mistake, should have listened to my parents). I was married to her for 32 years. During that time we had a son Michael, who is 25 years old now and trying to finish his dual degrees in Electronical Enginering and Computer programming. After I retired from the military I moved to Carbondale IL. Attended Southern Illinois U. and finished my BS degree in Healthcare Management. Then started my Masters in Business Admin. That was a big mistake. Should have finished my pharmacy degree I started. Oh well, we learn don't we. In 2002 I got a divorce. Met a woman who I believe was my soul mate. We dated for a couple of years then married in 2006. A little over a year ago she was diagnosed with cancer. We went the chemo route and it went into remission for 3 months then it came back but in her brain and spin along with the lungs. We called hospice and I stayed and took care of her for 3 weeks until she passed away in Feb '09. I hope I don't have to do that again for quite sometime. It takes alot out of a person not only physically but mentally. Especially when you love them so much. So now I'm single with two rat terriers to come home to. I work at Carbondale Memorial Hospital (part of a corp. which owns 3 hospitals and 2 big clinics). I'm the inventory manager for the ...Expand for more
biggest hospital pharmacy. I also make IV's and go to meetings and alot of other things. I helped my parents move to Arizona about 4 years ago. They are getting up in age, so I may move out to be with them. I really don't know yet, it's kind of up in the air right now. I've changed quite a bit over the years. Most of you wouldn't know me. In change, I mean my attitude. I'm more sensitive to people, a good listener, and more laid back. My late wife always said "you only have one life to live, so live it to it's fullest" and that is what we did. We were planning to go on a curise this summer, but of course there were a lot of things we didn't get to do or finish. Well, enough of this bumming everyone out. This is supposed to be a joyous occasion comming up in July. Hope to see you all there and pick up old times together and maybe make some new ones. I like alot of different types of movies. SiFi, comedy, animation, adventure, fantasy. I have so many dvd's I could open up my own blockbuster. I also like to play video games (xbox 360, one of my faults). Im pretty good at war and espionage games. In the music field I like most every thing except for rap. I do not like that at all. My musical taste range from pop rock to classical to jazz. I like to listen to Daughtry, Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Josh Groban, Journey, Styx, Moody Blues, Spyro Gyro, Lifehouse, OAR, One Republic, then theres the Doors, Led Zepplin. I could name a lot but only have so much room. If anyone wants to contact me, you can contact me here at classmates. Well thanks for listening to me bable for a while and maybe we will talk soon :)
