Charles's Story
Life
Charles is President, Innovative Strategies LLC, a management consulting firm specializing in customer experience improvement, strategic planning, leadership development, and culture/team building. For 9 years prior to March 2009, Charlie was VP, Voice of the Customer Office and Director of Global Strategic Planning for Avnet, Inc., the Phoenix-based Fortune 250 company with over $10 billion in worldwide revenue, provides technology components, computers, and services through its 10,000 employees in 64 countries. He is responsible for facilitating the development and review of strategic plans. Charles also develops business opportunities globally by building relationships with key suppliers, customers, and influencers within the technology supply chain. Charles also is faculty member and Area Chair, Organizational Behavior and Development, at the University of Phoenix, teaching graduate business courses since 1998.
Prior to Avnet, Tombazian was Director of Marketing for Phoenix-based Pilgrim Funds, a wholly-owned mutual fund subsidiary of ING of the Netherlands. Prior to its 2001 acquisition, Pilgrim was ranked the 9th fastest growing company in America by Fortune Magazine. Charles was responsible for all facets of Pilgrim's marketing including advertising, website, direct mail, collaterals, events, training, and customer focus groups.

roup, a diversified financial services organization that was based in Washington, D.C.(merged with Ameritas Life Insurance Company, Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1998). His 5 years management consulting experience includes serving primarily small and medium-sized Colorado and Arizona companies. He has been a faculty member at the University of Phoenix for 6 years, and Grand Canyon University for 1 year, teaching graduate business courses. Charles speaks frequently to a variety of groups on business strategy, customer experience improvement, managing change, and leadership trends.
Mr. Tombazian received his MBA in Organizational Management and Development from the University of Colorado, was a certified management consultant with the Institute of Management Consultants (1995-1997), and President, Past-President, and VP Programs of the Strategic Leadership Forum's Phoenix Chapter (formerly International Planning Forum) from 1996-1998. His writing credentials include co-authoring the innovative PowerNotes series in which he synthesized presentations from world- class conferences across the U.S. (available Amazon.com). Charles has been active in community service, including 3-years as a Board Member at Florence Crittenton, fund raising and pro bono work for Parenting Arizona, Arizona Foundation for Women, AZ Boys Ranch, Phoenix New Day Center, and Phoenix Children's Hospital. In 2000, he was selected as one of AZ's Finest 20 honorees for his community service, sponsored by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
