Charlie's Story
After leaving Crestview, I moved to Crawfordvile, FL, which is just south of Tallahassee, FL. I got married, received a B.S. degree in English Education from Florida State and taught English at Wakulla High School for eighteen years. I had three girls and while still teaching at the high school returned to FSU (at night) to earn my M.S. degree. After eighteen years in the classroom, I went to work for the Department of Education in the Office of Instructional Materials where I worked for nine years. After the first four years, I became the director of that office and minus the political aspects of it, I loved every minute of that ...Expand for more
job. However, it was because of the politics that I found myself back in the classroom four years ago...right back at Wakulla High School. I was there again for three years. 2012-2013 found me in Sopchoppy, my hometown, at Sopchoppy Education Center as the teacher of the GED Exit Option Program. It's a wonderful way to wind down my career.
Almost 39 years ago, I married a wonderful man who has served over 30 years in the ministry as an interim pastor of churches all over our area, and my three girls have given me six beautiful grandchildren plus one from a blended marriage. God has blessed my life more than I could have imagined.
