Charlie's Story

I was born and raised in Laurel MS. I attended Calhoun Elementary School and then graduated from West Jones High School in 1986. In 1987 I loaded a bus to Chicago and I would live there for 12 years. While there, I received a Bachelor of Theology and met my wife Mindy. We lived in Michigan for two years and have spent the last eight years living in Pittsburgh. I have three beautiful daughters and a wonderful wife. I am currently an Assistant Pastor with my primary responsibility being to over see our Christian School. When I was 11 years old I heard the Gospel for the very first time. Gospel means good news. I owed God a terrible debt because of my sin and the good news was that Christ had paid my debt in full. As a 12-year-old boy I accepted the free gift that God offered me by faith. I believed that Jesus was who he said he was, God. (John 1:1) I believed that he lived a...Expand for more
sinless life and died on the cross in my place. I believed he arose from the grave and is now seated at the right hand of The Father to be my mediator. I had no idea how putting my faith in Christ would change my life. Now much of my life is spent sharing with others what someone shared with me as a child, hope. I have often regretted that as a teenager I did not actively share my faith with those whom I spent so much of my life. It took the death of two of my friends in a car accident to show me how fragile and short life is. In my study of Theology and the Bible what I have learned of God is that wherever you are God will receive you there. So often I meet people that tell me they have blown it and God would not accept them. The Bible tells us that "The Word of The Lord came unto Jonah a second time.." I am glad that God is a second, and third, and fourth chance God.
