Charlotte's Story
I attended Woodward Higgh School and then Taft High School in Cincinnati,Ohio. I throughly enjoyed my school years there. At Christmastime of my junior year,my parents decided to move back to our land in Kentucky. Thus I graduated from Pulaski County High and from there on to a wonderful college in Kentucky where I received a no-tuition schoralship-Berea College. Berea has been in the news and on Fox TV still offering that free tuition to low income students. It was my ticket to becoming a teacher. I had wonderful teachers,they were my role models and that was what I wanted to do. While going to Berea, I ventured to Minnesota to work at resorts for 2 years. e lived in Pequot Lakes, MN where I started teaching and ended up teaching 30 years here in the elementary school. In 1993 I was chosen the Pequot Lakes teacher of the year, At the same time, I was mother to five Children who have families of their own now. I am grandmother to 12 now. In 1997, I retired from teaching to be caretaker for my husband who was diagnosed with a rare fatal diseasecallled CBD, cortical basal degeneration.This is similar to Parkingson, but rarer and faster progression. I lost him in 2001. Since I travel. I have spent 4 winters in Mexico,because I took Spanish From Mr. Stites in Cincy and also some in college. I also had a class trip to Mexico while at Berea. Now I am wintering in Florida and will be returning there in October for the golden years, or so they say! Charlotte Childers Greer
