Charlotte's Story
Life
I am married as of this year for 32 years. Have 6 children; 5 boys and 1 girl the oldest is 31 and the youngest is 24. (Our girl is the second child.) There are 6 grandchildren 3 boys and 3 girls. The oldest a boy is 10 and the youngest a girl is 2 1/2.
After high school I went to Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico. I majored in marriage, marrying a very nice guy. We co-owned a dairy with his parents for the first 10 years of our marriage. Then the dairy wouldn't make a living for two families so we moved to a place called Levelland in Texas. It is 30 miles west of Lubbock. I went off to college, South Plains College, and got an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Microcomputing, Medical Secretary, and Legal Secretary, and a Certificate of Proficiency in General Secretary. While my husband, Jodie, worked in the oilfield driving transport trucks and doing diesel mechanics on those transport trucks. About 6 years ago he got a hole in his right foot it started out very small but he didn't see the doctor and didn't take care of it so being a diabetic the hole got bigger and he got...Expand for more
a staff infection in the bone so had to have it amputated 6 inches below the knee. He has a prosthesis and the grandkids love to run off with his leg. He just giggles and plays with them.
After getting out of college I went to work at Texas Relay now called CSD/USA Relay. I am a relay operator for the deaf, hard of hearing, and speech impaired. I've been there for 11 years this past April. It doesn't have anything to do with any of my degrees but it sure is fun. I like helping people too. I help them place their phone calls so they can keep in contact with family, make doctors appointments, call the bank, just whatever needs to be done by phone.
Four years ago we went to Branson, MO on a week invitation from Fairfield Time Share Properties. We found a booth at the mall where Walmart is that would pay us to go to a 90 minute session and give us two free show tickets. We thought that was great! It turned out to be Festiva Resorts, also a time share property, who were building cabins on what was then the edge of town. We said "yes" and have been enjoying our cabin and the shows of this growing town.
