Charlotte's Story
Life
My husband and I now live in Afton, OK, on Grand Lake (officially Grand Lake of the Cherokees). Our house sits high on a hill and overlooks Horse Creek - a quite section of the lake. We moved here in April of 2005 after Ivan retired from the Houston Police Dept. (20+ yrs). We both work in Grove, a much larger town about 14 miles away.
Our 3 dogs moved from Houston with us and love the fenced 4 acres of the 7 acres of their new home. Clyde, the oldest, is a mix breed (Long hair, curled tail, black, white and tan and very overweight) which we found in Needville, Tx (our former home). Miranda is our Rottweiler and she is now 10yrs and the sweetest wanna-be lap dog we have. Even though she loves Ivan, I am hers. Zena is our German Shepard and is about 5yrs and definitely belongs to Ivan. She is crazy about her toys. If she doesnÂt have one handy, a stick will be found.
We adopted a new dog from the Grove shelter in September, 2006. His name is...Expand for more
Buddy and he is a mix  looks like a Boston terrier. A few people say he may have some Pit Bull in him. He is very small and fits in our lap. He is the only inside dog, but stays outside with the others while we are at work. He makes me laugh every day  he is a funny little thing!
Workplace
Ivan is currently the Chief of Police for Grove. He was hired as Interim Chief in May of 2006, and then hire as the permanent Chief in July, 2006. Grove fired the old Chief. He is loving it! This town's popluation is around 5-6K during non-summer months and grows to around 20K during the summer. Grove is a retirement haven and we love it here.
I was lucky enough to keep my job with the Real Estate Law Firm in Houston. They offered for me to work via the internet from here. My house in Afton does not have any type of hi-speed internet other than Satellite currently, so I drive into Grove and work from my In-laws' home using their Cable. It is fabulous.
