Charlotte's Story
Life
After returning from Tripoli, we were stationed in the Washington D.C. area. I graduated from Oxen Hill High School and returned home to Portland, Oregon. I attended the University of Portland, where I met my husband Warren Cook.
Since college, I have taught pre-school and then 'graduated' to become a "professional volunter". For the past 26 years I have volunteered with Portland Public Schools in a wide variety of roles (budget, reorganization, parent advisory training, teen health clinics, etc.) I have also been very active in the area of Child Advocacy. Currently, I am actively involved with the State Judicial Department, performing case reviews of children in out of home placements. Several years ago, I was extremely fortunate to receive "The Jefferson Award" for my volunteer ...Expand for more
efforts. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening and love to cook; doing a bit of catering from time to time.
My husband recently retired as a Captain with the Sheriff's Office in Portland (Multnomah County), after 33 years of service. He continues to teach at Portland Community College and is a national consultant for criminal justice agencies.
We enjoy sailing, traveling (especially to Europe) and spending time with our son Albert. Albert graduated from the University of Portland and is a BMW Motorsports expert, working for the national product importer in Century City, California. We also enjoy time with my parents (CWO-4 Albert Drenkhahn USAF Ret and Eleanor), as we visit our favorite destinations throughout the Northwest U.S. and Canada.
