Cheri's Story

Ok, my life in a nut shell........... I didn't have many friends in high school but the ones I did I cherish. I kind of stayed to myself. It was at Pryor Junior High that I had the time of my life. High school became serious, stressful and lets face it clicky. But now that 30 years have passed, we are all just the "Class of 1978". One big happy Choctaw Family. Life has been really good to me. I was married about two months before I graduated from high school. My husband was moving to attend the University of Alabama so we decided to get married early. After graduation, I moved to Alabama where I worked full time at an auto insurance company as an under writer. Thanks for Mrs. Frankie Middleton for all the record keeping and office skills. After my husband graduated with a BS degree in Engineering we moved to Savannah for two years. My first daughter was born in Savannah. Nine months later we moved 30 minutes north of Atlanta and have lived here ever since. Then after the birth of my second daughter, I became a full time mom and loved every minute of it. I did illustrate a Children's book but it has never been published. Thanks to all the hard work in Dot Riley's art class at Pryor Jr High. That was when Sherrie Ruckman (Phillips) and I were not getting into trouble. I volunteered at my daughter's elementary school and helped teachers with different activities. I archived the history of their Elementary School. When my girls went to college, I got my four legged child, a peek-a-poo dog and she is in every sense of the word-a child ... spoiled rotten. My oldest daughter graduated from the University of Georgia with a PharmD and was married in 2007. My youngest daughter attended UGA for two years and then transferred to a coll...Expand for more
ege in Savannah where she hopes to get a Masters in Public Health. I have been blessed with two beautiful, smart and caring daughters. Both of which are huge college football fans, thanks to their father, a University of Alabama Alumni. Roll Tide!! My oldest daughter plans all her life events around UGA's football season. After my daughters went to college, I was able to travel a lot more. I have been to: Roma, Pisa, Venice, Naples, Italy, Sydney Australia for four weeks, NhaTrang Vietnam three times and England many times. Plus traveled with in the continental US. I will tell you there is no place like home (USA). I have come to appreciate everything and anything we have. I try to come back to FWB as often as I can in hopes to find out where some of my old friends are and how life has treated them and when I am there it feels as if time has stood still. Hard to believe 30 years have come and gone. I know I have been spoiled but life has a lot of paths and I guess I was lucky enough to choose the right one for me. I am happy to connect with old friends and reminisce about our crazy childhood and teenage years. One of which Sherrie Ruckman, Phillips and her husband Mike Phillips have been keeping me up-to-date with all the happenings in FWB and calling me at the 30 year class reunion so I could chat with an old friend of whom we are now keeping in touch. And for the friends who aren't with us anymore. They will forever be in my memories. May you RIP. For the friends I offended when we were young just remember we were young and hope for forgiveness. Thanks and all the best in life to the greatest graduating class ever. Class of "78 I hope to attend the next reunion so I can have a chance to say hello and see everyone again.
