Cherise's Story
Life
Well what can I say. The happiest day of my life is when I graduated from high school. Im still single and have NO kids. I never left Indiana but I am currently living in Portage, living in an apartment of my dreams. But at the same time Im doing what I love the most and that is traveling all over the world, spending time with family and friends, and being a DIVA. The most important thing that I could have ever done with my life was dedicating my life to God whose name is Jehovah (Psalm 83:18)! I am one of Jehovahs Witnesses. YES I am one of those GE-HOvahs as people mocking say about us. Never regretted from day one. Even though I am working hard and traveling, I await the day Jehovah says TIMES UP! Then the great tribulation will come which will lead into the Armageddon. Then the new world will be here. THE REAL LIFE which is what I am waiting on! Take care of yourselves.
Workplace
The first thing I did was started working. Personally I took advantage of the Career Center while it was FREE. I took up administrative secretary skills or whatever you want to call it. I personally didnt see any need for me to go to college. Because I look at it like this. Now days its not about how much education you have, its all about how much work experience you have. Depending on the career you choose. The majority of people who go to college end up in the same line with those who didnt go to college looking for that one job. And guess who is going to get the job first? The one with the most experience. And thats what I did. For the past 8 years since I been out of school, I was in and out on jobs. Either I got laid off or the company went out of business. Finally I went to Manpower temporary services in Chicago and they hook me up with Ameritech who was in the middle of merging with SBC. I worked (contractor) as an administrative assistant for a group of Network Engineers for two years. When the merger was complete and Ameritech turn into SBC, word got to the supervisor I was working for that SBC was cutting off all contractors. My supervisor did me the biggest favor in the world by hiring me as a Network Engineer. And thats what I do now. My actual title is Senior Communication Specialist. In simpler terms, Im the connection la...Expand for more
dy. If you were setting up an office, of course you are going to have your players involve. The construction people, real estate, electrician people, etc.etc.etc. Where I come in at is of course you are going to have PCs and printers. My job is to provide connections that will enable you to get to whatever application that is on the network. Such as emails, intranet, internet and so forth. The modems or DSL, or mini hubs that you use on your PC at home to connect you to the internet, thats what I deal with. But in the business field, I deal with vendors such as Cisco, Anixter and the like. They provide me with equipment to provide connections for SBC employees throughout the state of IL. Mind you I never went to school for this. But I had extreme confidence in my fast learning ability and being a hard worker. My supervisor saw that and thats why I got hired. I work with the same Network Engineers who I refer to as my big brothers and sisters. They have been doing this work way longer than me. In fact my onsite supervisor has been working for Ameritech now known as SBC before the day I was born. So I follow they lead. Learn everything I can from them so I can do my job. Even 80% of the time we work independently but we're still a team and we try to help each other out when the need be. Yes I have been to business schools and gotten certificates. But you know anybody will tell you that you really dont learn your job until you actually start doing it. But I will be the first to admit that when you are working with technology, thats a challenging field and it can become frustrating at times because technology it's always changing and you have to learn from scratch all over again. But life is funny. If you would have told me while I was in high school that I was going to end up doing a job of what I am doing now, I would have laugh in your face. But on the flip side with me being a hard worker, I knew somebody out there was going to be interested in me no matter what the job was. So if you are ever in Chi-town, look me up. You can always call me at work at 312-727-4747. And by the way if you get my voicemail, my first name is Anna and that's what everyone call me at work. But I still prefer Cherise the name you've always known. Take Care!
