Cheryl's Story
Like many of you, I too was a late bloomer. I had always known what I wanted for my life but wasn't ready for it. You could say I wandered the dessert for about 10 years. It took me to Humboldt for 4 years (the best and worst of times) and returned to San Diego searching.
My return to San Diego landed me what I thought would be a temporary job at a fine hotel. I had no idea that my entire world would be changed. mpossible to have. I finished my BA, married an AMAZING man who keeps me grounded and uplifted, survived the Cedar fire in '03 by 4 yards, bought a home, earned my teaching credential, had a beautiful boy, survived the Witch Creek fire in '07 by 1 block. Today, I am grateful to be working part time in hospitality and education so I can be home when my family is home. I'm encouraged by many of your stories (epecially Stephen Whyte and Jeff Harrell) and look forward to reading more.
