Cheryl's Story
Life
August '09: Husband Fred & I live in SW WI w/ 2 daughters, oldest (Sarah) now 20 & on her own, off to college. Construction/repair on house continues.
2 years ago, we were in a disaster area for flooding & our basement (which was an old cellar type to begin with) went kaput. The new basement is in but lifting a house so old (125 years old) did damage to the structure, so we'll be in repair mode for some years yet. We love HGTV & home repair, my favorite store is Menards! So this works out.
"eBay Income" is somewhat obsolete due to the changes to ebay's system this year, but it continues to sell and get good reviews. It was a best seller in its category on amazon for almost 2 years. Who would have guessed?? Not me!
The exposure has given me some clout as a writer, although it's still easier to spit a pea from a straw and land it on the head a of giraffe in the African savannah than get fiction published. However, "Mother's Voices" is still in edit stage, obviously, for time constraint reasons. So no rush to publish that.
I continue to hone my work and read good books. Books I've read recently include "Middlesex" but Jeffery Eugenides, "Centennial" by James Michener, and for fun, I've become hooked on the "Stephanie Plum" books by ...Expand for more
Janet Evanovich! While I find her writing style redundant and simplistic, I have to admit her characterizations and humor are top notch!
I'm still plugging away at my own writing with the intent to publish, but due to the burgeoning expenses of our massive construction project, I went back to the "real" workforce last year. I've been working for Logistics Health in nearby La Crosse, WI (their corporate headquarters) for 14 months now. I work w/ service members home from deployments to get them health assessments & help they need.
Our kids are still our main joy in life. Elly is starting 1st grade and took up violin this year. She has a natural musical ability for sure! Eva, now starting kindergarten, is hoping to start piano soon. Sarah's artistic talents are being developed through her classes for her graphic arts degree. She's been working on pen and watercolor illustrations for some kids' stories I wrote for the little girls a few years ago. With luck, those will be published some day!
Our pet population grew again this year; we now have 2 dogs, 2 cats, still 6 birds, and 2 snakes.
Always happy to hear from old classmates. Might be easier to email me thru my website than this system, since I no longer pay for the premium services.
