Cheryl (Skipton)'s Story
My husband Larry passed away on January 18, 2023 after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
I left Tachi and Yamato HS in 1963 after my junior year and we moved to San Bernardino, CA as my dad was stationed at Norton AFB. I did my senior year at Pacific HS, met my (now) husband mid-year, and we graduated together in June 1964. Three years later we married and we celebrated our 55th anniversary last year. We have three kids (Shannon 54, James 51, and Katie 41), eight grandkids, one great grandson, and one great granddaughter. e investigations. He retired in 1990, and we settled in eastern Washington where he continued doing the same kind of work. I worked for years as a secretary, and at various times as a medical assistant and medical clerk, but I took early retirement when I was 55 so I could help with our first grandchild. Larry continued working until 2009 when he had to stop due to illness. We happily spent all our time together, and spent as much time as we could with our kids and grandkids. We were attending the Yamato reunions that began in 1999 in Vegas, but we haven’t been to one since 2015 due to Larry’s illness. I hope to attend the 2025 one though. Also, you can find me on FB.
