Cheryl's Story
I decided to update my story. Many things remain the same. Graduated from LSU (GEAUX TIGERS) in 1966; BS in English and Physical Education. Master of Education in Hearing Disabilities from Western Maryland College. Taught at the Florida School for the Deaf for 40 years. retired in 2006. I thoroughly enjoyed teaching and am thoroughly enjoying retirement.
I've been married to the same wonderful and very patient man for going on 54 years. We have 2 grown sons and 5 grandchildren.
I enjoy living in the day, but have to admit, I enjoy thinking about the past. For examples:
1. I remember all my teachers, but especially MR. BALL, MISS PATTERSON and MR. FRENCH.
2. Wayne Gilmore always wore matching socks and shirts. Cool!
3. My crushes were Robert Himes and Lance Simpson. Robert passed away a few years ago in Colorado and what I know about Lance is that he is an expert in germ warfare and other poisonous agents.
4. I remember not having a date for our graduatio...Expand for more
n all night party so I told some of my guy friends in 1st period (I think Jack Crouch was one of them) and by 3rd period I had a first date set up with Les Sterling (great memories of dancing and bowling)
5. I clearly remember Bonnie Renick and me winning district and regional and going to state in tennis doubles. I still have the medals.
6. I remember our Jr. Prom and how beautiful "Three Coins in a Fountain" turned out.
7. Graduation was a fun time. Our Senior trip to the dude ranch, prom and graduation on the football field. All night party starting at the Officers Club at Killeen Base, dancing at the pool and then back to the Killeen bowling alley for games and breakfast.
8. And even though I was an army brat, many of you thought I was a townie since we lived in Killeen for 7 years. So this is just a short list of things I did, and not complete. Maybe next time I edit.
I look back and have no regrets, only good memories. And I smile. What about you? cj
