Cheryl's Story
Well, life has a way of bringing you back to where you started. I work for the American Cancer Society in communtiy/public relations planning Relay For Life events and fundraising Galas in North Central Iowa (land of corn and soybeans). I was telling some co-workers and volunteers recently about Mr. Boren and the Great American Smokeout in 1977. He was such a great teacher..so enthusiastic and creative. It's hard to believe that 30 years has past.
I have also served as a director for the National Costumers Association. I have a background in marketing and was a buyer for a retail and wholesale Party and Theatrical business. tary walk and I write a column for a local entertainment publication (pure fluff). It's a lot of fun.
I lived in Tulsa, Phoenix and Denver before moving to Iowa. I worked in the airline industry and enjoyed the travel perks that came with the job. When I moved to Colorado I had a gig doing weddings and corporate events for Colorado Renaissance Festival. I have had an exciting and fullfilling career path. I feel very blessed.
People I meet always want to know what it was like to grow up in Southern California in the 70's and I tell them it was great! Sometimes I remember goofy things like getting caught sneaking into the "haunted mansion" in PV, or drinking coffee all night at Coco's talking, then driving to the beach to watch the sunrise. I think we had it pretty good...
