Cheyenne's Story
Life
I started school at Huron High and was so sad to move away. But I grew to love Orem High just as much. After graduating from Orem High, I went to BYU and studied Sociology. I then went on an LDS church mission to Taiwan and LOVED it. I miss the people there so much, and my experiences changed my life forever.
I added Asian Studies as a minor at BYU when I returned, and got involved in Student Government (BYUSA) as well as the Center for Service and Learning. I met Zack while in BYUSA--we were fellow officers. We both weren't looking, so it was surprising that things just came together like they did. We were friends first for most of the time, then just realized there was something else there! We were married in August 2003. We moved to Phoenix in 2004, so I could be part of Teach For America and Zack could get some work experience before going back to grad school. He plans to go back in a couple of years. n & grammar in innercity Phoenix with many of my students having Spanish as a first language, and enjoyed being the student council advisor and volleyball coach. I miss "my" students and hope I had some positive impact in their lives.
We've loved it here in Phoenix--even with the hot summers! My dreams are to one day get back to teaching after having our precious little ones, and also open an art studio. We'll be relocating within 1-3 years to Minneapolis or somewhere cold again, so I'd love to hear of where all of the Orem High and Huron High alums are.
Even though I was only at Huron for two years, I grew up with the people I knew and made some of my best friends. I would love to get back in touch with everyone I grew up with in Ann Arbor. And, even though I was only at Orem High for junior and senior years after growing up in Michigan, some of my best friends were made there as well. If you're ever in town, drop me a line!
