Chloe's Story
May,1962 was a big month and year for me. I married that damn, red-headed boy, with the dirty shoes (Hush Puppies). This was my fathers name for Jerry Bullock. Jerry and I had dated from 7th & 8th grades until my graduation in 1962. I also turned 18 and graduated in May. Jerry was in the class of 1961.
We went to Arlington, Texas the night of our wedding to an apartment we had rented. We put our worldly possessions in our Renault Dauphine including TomCat, my big Persian kitten that lived to the ripe old age of 15. Jerry was a sophomore pre-med student at Arlington State College and worked as a Lab Tech at Parkland Hospital about 60 hours/wk. He had to be at work at 7:00am the day after our wedding. What a honeymoon!
Sheer boredom pushed me to enroll in a Beauty College and get my Cosmetology License. I hated it so I decided I should teach (if you can't do, you should teach)and continued in instructor school and got my Cosmetology Instructors License. I taught for about a year before Jerry and I (and TomCat) moved to Galveston for Medical School In 1965.
We had a beautiful baby girl in 1967 and named her Amy Christine. Followed by our beautiful baby son in 1969, Russell Grady.
Jerry graduated in June 1969 and finished his internship at UTMB in Galveston June 1970. He had joined the Air Force during school to help pay the bills so we moved to San Antonio that summer so Jerry could do his 4 year residency in OB/GYN at Wilford Hall Air Force Hospital.
I started Nursing School there in 1970 at San Antonio College and received my Registered Nurse License in July 1973. Since Jerry's hours were limited at home with the kids I mostly did Red Cross Volunteer Nursing for several years.
1974, with Residency over, the four of us (and TomCat) moved to Omaha, Nebraska to pay back the Air Force for the money he was paid during school. Our third child was another beautiful baby girl, Emily Claire, born during a Nebraska blizzard in March 1975.

was really my first baby. Oh well! We have had many cats and dogs since then.
School and Military over and family complete, Jerry and I were very homesick for Denison and family there. We moved home the end of 1978 set up Jerry's office the next month and we worked together in the office on Washington, near Texoma Medical Center. These were great years. You really can go home again.
We decided to move to Plano the summer of 1984 mostly for the schools with AIR CONDITIONING.
Eventually, we moved to The Woodlands, TX and Jerry taught in the residency program at Conroe Medical Center. Then Jerry decided to go to law school, graduating in 1994.
Jerry decided he was ready to have another private practice in 2003 and I am still involved with the office. We are still here and love the Woodlands. It is a very unique, family centered town. I will always miss Denison, however.
With all our kids adults now and giving us 6 grandkids life is really fun at this point. Amy is an RN married to an Anesthesia doctor and they have 4 kids.
Russ is married, is a Math teacher in Spring Middle School, his wife works in our office and they have 1 daughter.
Emily is married and has a 2 year old daughter named CHLOE. That was such a thrill for a grandmother.
Emily graduated from TCU and Medical School and did her OB/GYN residency at Baylor Hospital in Dallas finishing in 2006 and moved back to her childhood home to practice medicine with her Dad.
Our life has been pretty uneventful but very busy from the beginning. The most exciting fact was that I divorced Jerry in 1998 because I was mostly sick of his face and his work hours. We remarried in 2000 and are happier now than ever before.
I love being with the grandkids, reading, going to our Methodist Church, and my favorite thing is to bake sweets and sew-quilts and heirloom baby things. Thank you, Mrs. Willis.
I was a very shy, quiet, skinny kid in high school. All those things have changed!
