Cholly's Story

Hi, everyone. I am excited to hear from any of you. I just stumbled onto this site. I was pleased to see so many names. David Hageman and Nancy Nolan are the two school mates that I have known since the fourth grade. Still have a news paper photo of us from when we were getting on the bus moving from Hacienda elementary to Lowell, sad faces and pillowcases stuffed with our school "stuff" (I probably even managed to hide a box of jello and red whips for my new desk.) I hope to hear what you have all been doing since graduating high school together in that little bitty class. I recently retired from my horse training business. Thought that after so many years of 24/7 365 days a year it was time to move on. I loved what I did, but now it is time to take care of myself rather than 60 horses and 30 head of cattle. I currently hold a position as senior sales associate and assistant merchadizer of softlines in retail. I write and have been published, which has always been a passion for me, though I previously found little time to do it. I imagine that so many of you have wonderful and interesting stories to share about your lives and I am hoping to hear some of them soon. I am currently living near Las Vegas as this is where three of my children and half of my grandchildren reside. My widowed mother is here as well. My oldest son and his family still reside in San Diego County where I raised my family. My brother, Chip, lives and works in Fountain Valley and stil...Expand for more
l has one of his three sons living at home. If any of you plan to make Vegas your destination for fun or recreation, I hope you will let me know and perhaps I could meet with you while you are here. That would be fun. I miss the ocean, but try to get to Oceanside for the annual longboard competition every August. Have not seen any of you there yet. Maybe this year. To wind down, I enjoy getting out in natural surroundings. I love to be near, on or in the water (Come on now! Don't laugh. I know I live in the desert, but I am only minutes from Lake Mead. Of course, due to the draught, it is inching further away each week.) I try to stave off the "creeeeeky joint syndrom" by staying physically active. I do practice tai chi freqently and I still love to sing and dance. Sitting and watching the sunset or counting stars with someone whose company I enjoy is always a pleasure, but I really enjoy riding out horseback to watch the sunrise, breakfast around a campfire, walking the beach, smelling the rain. Yep! I guess I am still me! A hopeless romantic with a passion for the many gifts God has laid at our feet. I would be more likely to appreciate finding a unique or beautiful rock out on some trail, then a perfect diamond in a showcase, or perhaps a piece of old broken pottery to a Ming vase. I always dreamed of being an archeologist when I grew up (bet that is a surprise to some of you) Maybe that yearning still influences me. Rainbows and starlight to you all.
